Mom probably could have reached 100, but she had a date with Dad she just couldn’t miss. Katherine Eble Hanson said goodbye to this life on September 15, 2017 at age 99, leaving memories of a woman whose grace and compassion touched all who knew her. In September of 1939 she married Rex J. Hanson. The United States had entered WWII, and Dad signed on as an officer with the U.S. Navy. Mom took care of things on the homefront as a new mother. The War ended and Dad came home to build a successful, respected law practice. Mom both stood by his side as his wife, and as a mother to their four children. Dad died in June, 1980, leaving Mom to again take care of things on the homefront. Though she missed Dad greatly and wished she could be with him, Mom learned to cherish her independence. She most loved to travel, play tennis and spend time with close friends. Thirty-seven years later, Mom finally got her date with Dad, returning to his side for time and eternity.
Along with Dad, Mom’s parents, George Frederick and Geneva Eble, her brother George and many friends preceded her in passing. She left behind four children she adored, Tim (Gloria), Bill (Cindy), Chris (Ken) and Stacy (Colleen) along with 11 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
