Jon was born March 11, 1972, in Cebu City, Philippines to Cass and Carolyn Ford Bettinger (Boies) and moved with his family back to Salt Lake at the age of three months. He attended Howard R. Driggs Elementary School, Olympus Jr. High, SkylineHigh School, and Salt Lake Community College. Jon was certified as a master tile designer/setter creating and installing many beautiful floors around the Salt Lake Valley and Hawaii. One of his original designs was featured on the cover of Architectural Digest Magazine. Due to many work and sports-related injuries and near-fatal congestive heart failure he was forced to seek a new career path. A lifelong love of building, repairing, and riding motorcycles inspired him to seek a course of study at Universal Technical Institute in Phoenix, AZ. He loved his studies in Motorcycle Technology and was a 4.0 student at UTI. Jon was a hard-working, extremely intelligent, and caring person. He was a good father and was adored by his children, Jaden and Jordyn. He was always interested in every aspect of their lives and activities, always looking forward to updates and photos. Through all his health issues he tried to stay upbeat, positive, active, and involved with his beloved children.
Jon is survived by his two children, his mother, his father and step-mother, Connie, his brother Christopher, sister Nicole, step-brother Steve Robinson, and his former wife, Jessica Smithen. He is predeceased by his older sister, Michelle, and all his grandparents.
