Jacob Lattin Harrison passed away July 8 surrounded by his family. Jake was born May 7, 1977. Like the characters he admired in comic books, Jake was a super hero in disguise. At the age of 4, he was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes and valiantly battled it throughout his life. He was unassuming in his demeanor but smart as a whip. He loved books and learning and would often share his opinion — whether you wanted him to or not. Jake truly enjoyed his job in the photo/electronics department at the Canyon Rim Smith’s Marketplace. He loved interacting with customers and employees. He liked helping people and hoped he made their days a little better in the process. Jake is survived by his parents: Kathy Lattin, and David (Stephanie) Harrison; siblings: Jennifer Lattin, Jonathan (Kristyl) Harrison, Jessica (Jared) Whiting, and Joshua (Relissa) Harrison; stepbrother: Randy (Terri) Harrison; and 16 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and brother-in-law. The family would like to thank the numerous medical professionals who cared for Jake throughout his life. They would also like to thank the family of the anonymous donor whose gift of a kidney and pancreas gave Jake five extra years with his family. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you please make a donation to the Foundation for Children and Youth with Diabetes, donate blood or simply honor Jacob’s memory by taking some time out of your day to read a book. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at Wasatch Lawn Memorial, 3401 S. Highland Drive, Salt Lake City. Friends may call prior to the service from 10-11 a.m.
