Grant Abbott Brown, 97, passed away on February 12th 2016 of causes related to age. He was born 12 December 1918 in Salt Lake City to Raymond Owen and Emma Elizabeth Abbott Brown. He married Darlene Helene Wagley of Salt Lake on May 28, 1941 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together they had seven children, 4 boys and 3 girls.
He was drafted into the United States Army and served in the Pacific Theater of operations during World War II on Okinawa, and with Korean occupation forces until 1946.
He graduated from the University of Utah in 1948 with a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Accounting. He worked for a number of businesses before spending 20 years as Assistant Business Manager and Controller at Cottonwood Hospital. Grant served faithfully in numerous ward and stake callings and also served in the Jordan River Temple for 9 years. He made and kept his covenants with the Lord and remained faithful and true to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
He is survived by his sons, Philip (Janet), Paul (Julia), David (Susan) and James (Dolores), and daughters Susan E. Brown, Beth (Drew) McMillan and Joan (Mark) Newton; 34 grandchildren and 80 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday Feb. 19th at 12:00 pm in the Bennion 5th Ward, 6100 So. Kamas Dr., Taylorsville, UT. Friends may call on the evening of Thursday Feb. 18th from 6-8 p.m. at the Bennion 5th Ward, 6100 S Kamas Drive, Taylorsville, UT and Friday Feb. 19th at 10:00-11:40 a.m. at the church prior to the funeral. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park 3401 So. Highland Dr., Salt Lake City, Utah. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
