Glenn was born in Palo Alto, California, and grew up on a cattle ranch in Watsonville, California. She first attended the Railroad school, a one-room schoolhouse. She learned how to ski in the Lake Tahoe area at Sugar Bowl, California, and became a world-class, competitive skier. Glenn went to Stanford University. She married Jim McConkey and continued to ski while managing a ski shop in Kamloops, Canada.
Glenn was a single mother to her only son Shane. Her influence on Shane was unsurpassed. She passed on many unusual gifts that he was able to use to their full potential. Glenn established, owned, and ran her successful real estate business in Aptos, California. She later moved to Olympic Valley, California, and excelled as an active participant on their Master's ski team for over a decade in the U.S. and internationally. Glenn moved to Park City, Utah, and continued to compete at the Masters's level.
Glenn had a lifelong passion for the outdoors. Her sense of adventure profoundly influenced everyone around her.
Glenn developed Alzheimer's disease and lived at the Silverado/Aspen Memory Care Center in Salt Lake City for the last several years of her life.
Glenn is predeceased by her son Shane McConkey, brother Joe Chamberlain and sister Nan Lewis. She is survived by daughter-in-law Sherry McConkey, granddaughter Ayla McConkey, and siblings Edith Collin, Cindy Chamberlain, Mary Chamberlain, and Fred Chamberlain.
