Gaye Ballantyne Conway, 83 passed away peacefully with her husband, Tom, at her side on October 7, 2024, in Taylorsville, Utah. Gaye was born June 18, 1941, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Arvella Grace Bartley and Richard Burton Ballantyne. Gaye attended LDS Business College and worked in varied industries. In her final positions, she spent a good while with the Utah Cancer Registry, then, being an animal lover, with the Utah Humane Society.
She married Thomas Locke Conway on July 9, 1980, and they had two sons, Christopher Thomas, who bravely served in the U.S Army, and Shaun Michael. She also has a daughter, Lisa Gaye, from a previous marriage.
Gaye loved her family with all her heart, and always wanted to know what was going on with all of the grandkids and great-grandkids. She loved the Denver Broncos, even attending a handful of live games, and traveling, especially to Colorado and Hawaii with her husband and two sons. She also loved horses, owning several over the years and airplanes, which she also owned and was only a few hours away from receiving her pilot’s license. As she and Tom couldn’t travel long distances as much, she enjoyed taking day trips with her husband and son, Shaun, and having girls’ night with her daughter Lisa.
Gaye is survived by her husband of 44 years, Tom. Her children Lisa (Rob) Nielson, Shaun (Melisa) Conway and Chris (April) Conway, 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Shirlyn Cornwell.
The family would like to thank Inspiration Hospice, the doctors and staff at Intermountain Medical Center and Legacy House of Taylorsville for their kind, compassionate care and kindness and empathy for the family.
There will be a graveside service at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, the time is to be determined. Updates will be available through their website.
