Everett Cannon Peck passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family on December 27, 2020 at the age of 78. Everett was born on September 5, 1942 in Salt Lake City, Utah. His parents were Lorin Mayer Peck and Mary Bennion Cannon Peck. He attended Columbus Elementary, Irving Junior High, South High School and the University of Utah where he graduated with a degree in Zoology. He served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Alaskan/Canadian mission.
On June 10, 1968 he married his sweetheart, Hanna Witter in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity. Everett and Hanna are the proud parents of 7 children, 24 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Everett loved the outdoors and enjoyed playing horseshoes, hunting, fishing, gardening, and spending time at the family cabin on the Weber River. Everett was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings during his lifetime. Some of those callings include: Bishop, Stake President, and Patriarch. He also served in the Salt Lake Temple as an ordinance worker. Everett was always inclusive and loved working with the youth and mentored many souls through the scouting and young men’s programs. He loved to teach the gospel and was a wonderful missionary and example of Christ-like service and friendship. He was always quick to recite a Robert Service poem or favorite scripture from memory that would engage and inspire others.
Everett will be dearly missed as a Husband, Dad, Father-in-law, Grandpa/Papa, and friend. He is preceded in death by his parents and younger sister, Georgia Peck, who died in childhood. He is survived by his loving wife, Hanna and children- Amanda Black, Steven (Christine) Peck, Georgia (David) Raymond, Lynette (Scott) Montoya, Allison (Keith) Nigbur, Melanie (Jason) Coble, Emily (Cameron) Cook. He is also survived by 24 adoring grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter, and 3 siblings- Lorin (Kay) Peck, Marian (Dale) Rees, and Granger (Suying) Peck.
Funeral services will be held at the Granite Tabernacle (2005 S 900 E) on Monday, January 4, 2021 at 12:00pm. There will be a viewing one hour prior from 11:00-11:45am in the foyer next to the upstairs chapel where the services will be held. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park (3401 S Highland Drive).
