Cory was born on April 28th, 1960 to Robert (Bob) and Dolores (Fowlks) Rich. He was a graduate of Granite High School. After high school, Cory served a mission to the Philippines where he exhibited love to all those he came in contact with. He developed a special bond for the country and a love for the Filipino people. He gained a strong testimony that remained unshaken. This testimony is what attracted his wife, Julie, to him early on. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on February 9th, 1983.
Cory was kindhearted and always had an unconditional love for family and friends. Cory’s greatest joy was spending time with his family, creating lasting memories.
Cory was a fun grandpa and always looked forward to playing with his grandchildren. He was willing to go above and beyond even when it involved getting his fingernails painted. In true grandpa fashion, he was always sneaking sugar and treats to the grandkids. The grandkids lovingly called him Grandpa “Corn”, a nickname that stuck when his first grandchild could not pronounce “Cory”.
Cory especially loved and looked forward to the yearly camping trip with his family at East Park. You could find him sitting in his directors chair surrounded by his boys. In the evenings they would enjoy a toasty fire where their tradition of a “Barbie-Q” began. There were many hours spent fishing, hiking, rafting, and shooting. In the mornings Cory would often sneak off to enjoy the sunrise. We are grateful for so many memories of Cory which we will cherish for the rest of our lives.
Another experience that Cory gave his sons was the knowledge of first-hand home building. The family's two homes were built by Cory and his father Bob. Cory's sons have continued to use this knowledge to this day for their own homes.
Cory also loved cheering on the Utah Utes and the New England Patriots. He loved to banter with anyone whose team was playing against his.
Throughout his career, he had a genuine love and concern for the people he worked with and would do anything for their well-being and happiness. This was evident as Cory kept a close relationship with them even when they were no longer co-workers.
We would like to give a heartfelt thanks to all those at Harmony Home Health, especially to Bryce and Kaytlin who brought such kindness and care into our home.
Cory is survived by his loving wife Julie Teresa Rich (Wells), and his children - Greg (Stephanie), Aaron (Kassi), Ashton (Lacey), and Devan (Mindi). His grandchildren Lucas, Melodie, Tatum, Stevie, and Braxton. He is also survived by his mother, Dolores Elaine Rich, and his siblings - Penny (Brian) Miller, Jody (Matt) Fetzer, and Jason (Rikki) Rich.
