Beth Rasmussen

Beth Adeline Smith Rasmussen passed away peacefully Sunday evening, February 1, 2015 in Salt Lake City, UT of natural causes after a full life of 95 years. Born on September 21, 1919, she was the youngest of three daughters to John Cheek Smith and Jetta Jane Bennett.

She was active in her LDS Emerson Ward, attended Emerson Elementary School and graduated from East High School later attending the University of Utah where she affiliated with Pi Beta Phi.

It was at the U of U Library “studying” she met and later married Alma Vernon Rasmussen in the Salt Lake Temple on June 17, 1939. In 1941, she and Vern and their new son Roger moved to the Bay Area of California where Vern was a Naval Officer during WW II. They settled in Walnut Creek welcoming another son Paul and a daughter, Jetta Jane. In 1957, they moved to Southern California where Vern was in the Aerospace industry with Aerojet living in Claremont, CA and welcomed their youngest daughter Elizabeth “Liz” Ann.

Beth decided to get her residential Real Estate License where she became a very successful Realtor. In 1977, they moved to the Holladay area of Salt Lake City for their retirement years. Tragically her knee and hip surgery was not successful which seriously affected her mobility for the last 30 years. Vern passed away on September 15, 2000.

Beth is survived by her three children, Roger Vernon (Andrea Everett) Rasmussen of Folsom, CA; Jetta Jane (Blaine Cook) of Indianapolis, Indiana; Elizabeth “Liz” Ann (Dane Bradshaw) and 17 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren as well as many loved nieces and nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alma Vernon Rasmussen and her son Paul Keith Rasmussen along with her parents and two sisters, Olene Broadhead and Elma Richards.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive in Salt Lake City, UT 84106, with a Family Visitation at 9:45 AM. Interment will follow the services at Wasatch Lawn Cemetery.
