Benjamin Redman Bailey passed away on February 18, 2013 of complications due to pneumonia. He was born September 10, 1926 in Salt Lake City. He attended West High and graduated from the University of Utah trade school in barbering. He served in the navy in World War II on the USS Salamaua aircraft carrier, serving as a Yeoman. He married Audrey Theresa Leahy on December 30, 1946 and they had three children-Ben Thomas, Theresa Nellie and Michael Joseph. Most of his working career was spent at Kennecott Copper. His hobbies were fishing, hunting, travel, family, friends and dancing.
He is survived by his three children, grandchildren Mindy Bluth, Andrew Olds, Cynthia Farrer and Kelsey Cowden, nine great-grandchildren and his longtime girlfriend Darlene Chytrause.
He was preceded in death by his wife Audrey, 4 brothers - John, Robert, Joseph and William and grandchildren Shane Bailey and Benjamin Olds. A viewing will be held at Wasatch Lawn (3401 Highland Drive) on Sunday Feb 24th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm and the funeral will be held at the LDS church at 2738 South Fillmore St (about 14th east) on Monday Feb 25th at 2 pm with a viewing an hour before.
