Barbara was born April 8, 1938 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Charles LaMar and Ruth White Fagg. She was the oldest of five children and the only girl. She spent her growing up years in Ogden and graduated from Ben Lomond High and then Weber College. She met Edmond Riley Summers while still in college and they married two years later. Upon Riley’s graduation they moved to California to pursue his career in retail management. They lived up and down the coast of California, eventually ending up in Azusa, California for 17 years and then Apple Valley California for 33 years. Barbara and Ed were married for 55 years until his death in 2014. She was a working Mom for much of her life and always found a way to balance her time to support, love and encourage her sons.
Barbara was a mischievous go-getter from an early age who loved to torment her little brothers and people knew her for her no nonsense spunky personality and for her gift of gab & storytelling. She had a deep faith in her Savior, Jesus Christ and was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints her entire life. She served faithfully in many church positions, always working hard to serve others. Her love of family history, genealogy and temple work connected her to many of her relatives, both living and deceased. She often joked that she was more comfortable with the dead than the living. We know she was greeted by countless thousands of family members on the other side grateful for her service on behalf of her posterity.
She is survived by her family including her sons, Brian (Jodi) Summers, Darryl and Michael (Melinda) Summers, 11 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and her brothers Roger (Claudia) and Warren (Cheryl). She was preceded in death by her husband Edmond Riley, brothers Don & William, daughters-in-law, Tina (Darryl), Charlene (Michael) and grandson Daniel.
