Obituary of Woodrow John MacDonald
Remembering Woodrow MacDonald Mr. Woodrow MacDonald of North Chesterfield, VA passed away on Monday, August 5, 2024. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Marks United Church on Saturday, August 24 at 11:00 am. Mr. MacDonald was born in Millinocket, Maine on May 9th, 1940. He was preceded in death by his parents Woodrow and Margaret Gates MacDonald and his brother, Robert John MacDonald, and several members of his MacDonald and Gates family. He is survived by his wife Mary Lynn Aiken MacDonald, his children Valerie MacDonald Edgerly (Robert), Lisa MacDonald Hattori (Yuichi), and Christopher Leonard MacDonald (Erin), Seven grandchildren: Whitney and Brandon Edgerly, Austin, Ashton, and April Hattori, and Lucas and Samantha MacDonald. Woodrow MacDonald earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Campbell University in North Carolina. After graduation he was employed by E I Dupont of Richmond, Virginia and Wilmington, Delaware as a Shift Supervisor and later by Brownell Corporation employed in Sales and Technical Service in North Eastern US, including Richmond Virginia. Woodrow was quite a Sports Enthusiast as he grew up playing Football, Basketball, and Baseball. As an adult, golf became his game and he played frequently with a wonderful group of friends primarily in Richmond, Virginia. He also enjoyed doing things and actively participating in activities with his wife, his children and his grandchildren as well as relatives and friends in Virginia, North Carolina, and Maine. The church was always an integral part of his life both growing up in Maine in the Congregational Church and in Richmond, Virginia, the United Methodist Church. He offered along with Lynn and his family his time, service, participation, and means to the Church’s ministry. He will be truly missed by all who loved and cared for him so much. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, The United Methodist Church of Midlothian, Virginia, or the Charity of your choice in his name.
