IN THE CARE OF
Woody Funeral Home Huguenot Chapel
Our dear mom and friend, Sue Townsend, claimed the promise of the resurrection on November 6, 2024. Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ reached down His hand and welcomed her into His presence.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and Pat VanHoose; brother, Gary Wayne VanHoose; aunt and uncle, Paul Richard and Eloise VanHoose; and her grandparents, Walter and Sula VanHoose.
She is survived by her husband, Tony; son, Phillip (Vanessa); daughter, Sara (Chris); grandchildren, Sydney and London Townsend, Cayden, Kyla and Conner Smart; brothers, Paul Ernest, Keith, Dean VanHoose; her sister, Jonell Grubb; sisters-in-heart, Rosie and Teresia VanHoose; daughters-in-heart, LaDonna, Paula, Lori; loving nieces, Christina, Lisa, Misty, Stephanie, Dottie, Christina; and nephews, Scott, Derek, Robert, and Dean.
Over the years, Sue served at Mt. Pisgah with exceptional dedication, working as a faithful office volunteer, serving on Staff Parish and had oversight of hospitality at the church. One of her greatests joys was working in the puppet ministry with her dear friend Mary Simmons. Her kind, gentle spirit was so evident to all who knew Sue. Well done, good and faithful servant (Matthew 25:23).
As a family, join us in prayer as we petition for God's mercy, love and comfort to be present. In John 11:25, Jesus says, "I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believes in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live."
The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 9, from 3-7pm at Woody Funeral Home - Huguenot Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 2:30pm on Sunday, November 10 at Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church. Interment will be held at 10am on Tuesday, November 12 at Westhampton Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Virginia Cancer Institute or Mt. Pisgah UMC.
The family would like to thank the medical teams, her loving Pastor and church community and the family and loved ones she leaves behind.
