Robert Bruce Caruthers

Robert B. Caruthers (Bob), 62, passed away suddenly on June 13, 2013. Bob was a graduate of Old Dominion University where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He served in the U. S. Air Force Reserves during the Vietnam War. Upon his return from Vietnam and graduation from ODU, he entered the medical sales field. He was a member of the Masons, the Knights Templar and the Scottish Rite. Bob was also a National Rifle Association instructor.
His parents, William and Jane Caruthers, preceded Bob in death. He leaves behind a daughter, Rebecca Pickett and her husband Kevin; a grandson, Noah Groff all of Mobile, Alabama; a sister, Karen Caruthers of Richmond; and Judy Ford, his companion of 12 years and the love of his life, also of Richmond.
Bob will be remembered for his generosity, outgoing personality and an ever-ready willingness to help others. He will be greatly missed by a multitude of friends and co-workers.
The family will receive friends 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd., Midlothian, VA. A memorial service will follow at 3:30 p.m., conducted by Pastor Mary Beth Blinn of Providence United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to The Wounded Warriors, or the Masonic Home of Virginia. Contributions may be made in Bob’s name, payable to the “Masonic Home of Virginia, Inc.” and sent to Masonic Home of Virginia, P. O. Box 7866, Henrico, VA 23231.
