He was pre-deceased by his parents, Richard and Catherine and his wife, Nancy.
He is survived by his sister, Mary Shipley, his six children, Richard Fitzgerald (Donna), Kathleen Allsbrook, Timothy Fitzgerald, Terence Fitzgerald (Amy), Maureen Mueller (Kurt) and Brian Fitzgerald; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He served in the US Navy during the Korean War and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Printing Management at Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh where he met his wife, Nancy. During his forty-seven years in the printing industry, he was employed primarily by the American Greetings Corporation at their printing facilities in Cleveland, Ohio and Ripley, Tennessee.
After his retirement in 1998 he became a Master Gardener in the state of Tennessee.
A funeral mass for cremated remains will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 25th, 2024 at Saint Edward the Confessor Church, 2700 Dolfield Dr. North Chesterfield, VA 23235.
