On December 10, 1958, Marilynn married Chuck in Ft. Worth, Texas. The two loved to travel and lived in France and Okinawa, Japan among other places. Marilynn worked for Lancôme Cosmetics for many years and as a travel agent. She volunteered for various organizations including the American Red Cross. After retirement, they settled in Virginia, making their home in Newport News and Gloucester before finally settling in Williamsburg, Virginia. After Chuck’s passing, Marilynn moved to Brandermill Woods in 2017. Marilynn made many friends during her extensive travels. She was so loved and will be missed by her many friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, LTC (Ret.) Charles “Chuck” Gene Freeman. She is survived by her children, Jeanetta S. Polenske (Ron), Jana L. Bettge (Bret), Betsy B. Yeary (Dan), and Charles M. Freeman (Ann); her grandchildren, Brandi, Jenna, Abby, Michael, Tara and Christopher; 11 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren, and her rescued greyhound, Sophia.
The family will receive friends from 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Tuesday, October 15, 2024. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to James River Greyhounds.
