

Malcolm was born in Methuen, Mass. on May 18, 1930. He was predeceased by his parents, Edith and Walter Spicer; by his siblings, Frederick Spicer, Robert Spicer, Margaret Spicer, Anne Louise Hines, Edward Spicer; his daughter, Patty Frincke; and by his former wife, Barbara Lewis Spicer.
His survivors include his children, Marilyn LaMorte (Peter), Cynthia Spicer, Kathy Jo Ison (Byrd), Malcolm Spicer II, Robert Spicer and Thomas Spicer; sisters, Joan D. Rokes and Barbara K. Spicer of Midlothian, Va; his longtime companion Joyce Dyson; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
His military career began in 1947 when he joined the Navy and was assigned to the USS Beatty. After 30 years of military service, having served 20 years in the Navy and another 10 in the Air Force, he had traveled all over the world, from the Mediterranean to Africa to Korea, finally settling in Florida in 1967.
After his extensive military career, he worked for the USPS for several years before relocating to Richmond and working in roadway construction and other fields before retiring. He spent his retirement years helping others, volunteering for the VA Hospital as a transport driver and delivering for Meals on Wheels for over 20 years. He was inducted into the Chesterfield County Senior Volunteer Hall of Fame
He was an avid square-dancer and most recently an active member of The Tuckahoe Squares. He enjoyed working in the yard, especially decorating for Christmas and woodworking. He will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know him.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 2, from 6-8pm at Woody Funeral Home - Huguenot Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Friday, March 3, in the Woody Chapel. Interment will follow at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia at 2pm.
