Katherine “Kathy” Ryan Marchi Dunwiddie, 72, of Bon Air, Virginia passed away on July 6, 2022 surrounded by her children.
Katherine was born on September 10, 1949 in Front Royal, Virginia. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mary Katherine Marchi Dennison and Joseph L. Marchi, Sr. of Front Royal, Virginia and brother Joseph L. Marchi, Jr. of Troy, Virginia.
Kathy was employed as a registered nurse at Yale New Haven Hospital, Chippenham Hospital, and after a break to raise her children, at the local Ukrops. She had a strong work ethic and took great pride in all she accomplished.
Kathy was known for her infectious smile and witty humor that could have a room rolling in laughter within minutes. She loved shopping for a good bargain at the thrift stores, also known as the “sleezies” and surely would find a few treasures!
She is survived by her three children: Ian Dunwiddie, wife Lydia, of Richmond, VA; Meghan Ulanday, husband Jonathan, of Alexandria, VA; and Caitlin Geer, husband Andrew, of Moseley, VA. She was known as OooHoo to her three grandsons: Henry and Shepard Ulanday and Ryan Geer, whom she loved beyond belief. Kathy is also survived by her brother, Sean Marchi, wife Brenda, of Front Royal, VA; Aunt Cil King of Fredericksburg, VA; sister-in-law Louise Marchi of Troy, VA; along with cousins, nieces, and a nephew.
Her children will receive family and friends at a visitation on Friday, July 15, 2022 at 1pm at Woody Funeral Home Huguenot Chapel followed by a memorial service at 2pm.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be contributed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a charity that Kathy supported over the years.
