John William Davis

John W. Davis passed away peacefully on January 1, 2024 He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Doris; son, John E. Davis; his parents, and four siblings. He is survived by one son, William (Carol), two grandchildren; Jessica Lathrop (Phillip), Benjamin (Melissa), two great-grandchildren; Brynlee Lathrop, and Rhylee Lathrop. John will be remembered fondly by his many nieces, nephews, and friends. John was born in Kilmarnock, Virginia and proudly served in the U.S Army. After his service, he met and married the love of his life, his wife, Doris. He then went to work for Wilson Trucking for 39 years. After retirement, John and Doris moved to Florida and enjoyed many years there together before returning to Virginia. John loved watching T.V., particularly old-western and wrestling shows. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. The family will receive friends from 2-4pm on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Woody Funeral Home -Huguenot Chapel. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2023 at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Disabled American Veterans. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Seaton Chesterfield and the staff at James River Hospice.
