Janet Chaney Hatchett

Janet Chaney Hatchett, age 65, of Powhatan, Virginia passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2023. She is the daughter of the late Howard Chaney and Edith Bouwense. She is predeceased by her brother David Chaney. Janet worked for Powhatan Public Schools for a number of years where she had a passion for educating and helping students. She especially enjoyed helping kids with special needs. Prior to working in the school system she began with running a daycare where she developed her love for kids. At home she enjoyed spending time in her garden, she particularly enjoyed tending to her flowers. Janet found a love for dancing in her later years. She is survived by her husband Steve Hatchett, son, Ryan Hatchett, daughter-in-law, Heather, three grandchildren, Bentley, Cole, and Adalynn Hatchett as well as a number of extended family and friends. A celebration of life will be held Wednesday October 11th at 3 PM at Woody Funeral Home Huguenot Chapel, 1020 Huguenot Rd. Midlothian, VA.
