James Sidney Ketchum III, 44, of Richmond, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on December 14, 2022, at MCV/VCU medical center after a short and hard-fought battle with metastatic melanoma.
Born in Louisville, Kentucky, Sid was the son of James Sidney Ketchum and Margaret Ann (Rumble) Ketchum. Jamie as he was known until high school, graduated from Monacan High School in 1996 and Viginia Commonwealth University in 2001. After graduation, Sid met many of his lifelong friends at Quimonda North America before finding his path as a civilian engineer for the Navy.
Sid's true passion was always found on a field. From soccer to kickball to Brown's Island, Sid was happiest surrounded by family, friends, music and great laughs.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister Kathryn Ann (John) McGrorey; nieces, Molly and Lucy; and nephew, Jack McGrorey; Christine Amabile and her son Andrew; and numerous relatives and friends.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12 noon Saturday, January 28, 2023, at Church of the Epiphany, 11000 Smoketree Dr., North Chesterfield. Private Internment.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation.
