James Edwin Deady

James (Jim) Edwin Deady died July 25, 2021. The son of the late Edwin Raymond and Kathleen Sale Deady, he was born April 7, 1939, in Roanoke, Virginia. He attended Virginia Episcopal School, then graduated with a BA in English Literature in 1962 from Lynchburg College.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Doris; a son Logan (Amy) Deady and their daughters Grace and Allie of Chesterfield, VA; a daughter, Carter (Troy) Patterson and their sons Jack and Kyle of Inman, SC; and a sister, Pat (Leroy) Bohon of Newport News, VA and their daughters Lynne Manning, Alisa Bohon, and Leslie (Rob) Atkinson.
In 1969, he started Deady Advertising, and, as president, ran it for 35 years. He branched into e-commerce in 2004 with Showstopper Exhibits.
Throughout his life, he enjoyed community involvement. He was a committed member of Sycamore Presbyterian Church. He was a past member of Stonehenge Golf and Country Club, the Commonwealth Club, and Bon Air Rotary Club. In 2018, he received the T. Gibson Hobbs Memorial Award from the University of Lynchburg.
He will be cremated, and a visitation will be held at Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd, Midlothian, VA 23113 on August 7th from 3:00-5:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to your benevolence of choice.
The family is especially thankful for the care and comfort from Affinity Hospice, specifically his daily nurses, Wanda Coleman and Princess Woolridge. The helpfulness of friends and neighbors will always be remembered.
