Emily Josephine Brown

Emily “Jo” McLean Brown passed away peacefully on March 15, 2024 at the age of 91. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter H. Brown Jr. and her parents, Daisy Chasteen and Alton W. McLean. She is survived by her son, Billy Brown; daughter, Chris Byard; grandchildren, Gene Byard (Erin), and Jessica Dean and great grandchildren, Simon, Lucy and Oaklan. Jo was born in Georgetown, SC and moved to Richmond as a teen. She graduated from John Marshall High School in 1950, worked at Philip Morris and attended hairstyling school. She was a hairstylist in Stratford Hills for many years. Funeral services will be private. The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice and her private caregivers for her care.
