Donna had a passion for many things. Among them her faith, family, travel, crafting, warrior-vampire novels, and casinos, not necessarily in that order. She is survived by her devoted husband of thirty-five years, Brad; two children who inherited her quick wit and his love of shenanigans, Danielle and Michael; the only two people in the world that have a grandma named Hinee, Alex and Ava; parents, Mike and Patricia Kuszik; sister, Amy Colligan; and more beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins than can be listed here.
Donna Kuszik LaBree was born on July 17, 1967, in Hartford Connecticut and was raised in Windsor Locks. She was on the golf team and graduated from Northwest Catholic High School in 1985. In High school, she discovered her love of international travel when she went to France. Deciding the time wasn’t right for college or a career with N.A.S.A, Donna decided to go to work. She met Brad while working together at Preston Engravers.
Donna’s career in the insurance industry began with her working as a coder for Travelers Insurance in Hartford, Connecticut. Her hard work was rewarded with many promotions over the years. In 1996, the family made the move to Haw River, North Carolina for one of these promotions. It was there that they met lifelong friends and adventurers with the “small prayer group.” There may still be pictures of Donna at several NC and VA state parks alerting rangers of her exuberant and disruptive exploits.
In 2003, Berkley Mid-Atlantic Group offered her the opportunity to manage her own team. With a supportive husband behind her, Donna made the move to Virginia. Brad and sullen kids soon followed. Danielle and Michael joined James River High School marching band (2006-2008) and Donna joined the band parents and was in the stands for every game. As a family, they soon became active in BMX racing. Donna volunteered as treasurer as well as raced. In 2008, Donna was ranked 4th in the United States for her age category. Brad, Michael, Danielle all raced and have passed the BMX bug to Alex and Ava.
In 2018, Donna decided it was time for a change and returned to college. She graduated from Liberty University, magna cum laude, with a double major in Business Administration and Accounting. Soon after she started her own insurance consulting company partnering with Insurance Technology Services in Dallas Texas.
Donna lost her long battle with cancer on January 2, 2022. She lived her life to the fullest and we will all miss her dearly.
