He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Sophie (Duchin) Cohen; and his brother, Jay Cohen.
He is survived by his loving wife, Stephanie (Mazer) Cohen; and his two sons, Evan and Scott Cohen. He is also survived by his sister, Susan Berkov and her husband, Alan.
David was born in Paterson, NJ and raised in Suffern, NY. He graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and received his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering/Operations Research at Penn State. During his time there, besides becoming an avid Penn State fan (in all sports, not just the ones where they excelled), he was active in powerlifting competitions and worked with the Penn State football team to improve their training and conditioning.
After a short stint as a professor at VA Tech, he started his own firm, consulting with governments and other entities around the world in a variety of fields related to health, safety and security.
But for all his many accomplishments, he would say that the one that means the most to him is the honor and privilege of being Evan and Scott’s father.
He will be missed.
