Obituary of Cornelius "Ham" Hamilton Agee III
Cornelius Hamilton Agee, III of Midlothian, Virginia, passed away suddenly at home on July 3, 2024. He is survived by his wife Bonnie Hall Agee; his sister, Sue Carolyn Agee of San Francisco, California; his children, Scott Agee, and his wife Julie, of Kent Island, Maryland; Mathieu Agee, and his wife Stephanie, of Richmond, Virginia; Craig Love, and his wife Sarah, of Carolina Beach, North Carolina; and Mandi Galloway of Midlothian, Virginia; seven grandchildren, James Edwin Galloway of Richmond, Virginia; Jacob Hamilton Agee of Kent Island, Maryland; Joseph Hall Galloway of Midlothian, Virginia; Noelle Kathryn Agee of Kent Island, Maryland; Genevieve Marie Agee, of Richmond, Virginia; Adaline Gray Agee of Richmond, Virginia; and Samuel McDowell Love, of Carolina Beach, NC. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius Hamilton Agee II of Buckingham, Virginia. Over his years, Ham - as he was affectionately called - was heavily involved in his children’s youth sports holding titles ranging from bench coach to Little League Commissioner. He served as a volunteer firefighter for Prince Edward and Chesterfield Counties of Virginia. In his professional career he held the post of general auditor for several financial institutions before retiring from Christian Children’s Fund after twenty years where he was in charge of administrative services. Ham’s interests ranged over the years from home-brewing to every advance in technology, including weather stations to computers. He was a lover of 1960’s beach music, an avid collector of good bourbon, and Hamm’s Beer ceramic bears and signage. He loved sitting on a waterfront of all kinds (the Currituck Sound and Corolla, NC drive-on beach in the 1990s and in the following decades along the Carolina Beach, NC shoreline) - preferably in the sun, a cooler of cold beverages, and always with a Jimmy Buffett or Steve Bassett song in the air. A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, July 15, 2024 at 3:00p.m. At Woody’s Chapel on Huguenot Road.
