IN THE CARE OF
Woody Funeral Home Huguenot Chapel
PROFFITT, Beulah Dix, found eternal peace on her 95th birthday, February 28, 2023. She was a longtime resident of Bon Air and a member of Bon Air Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Fred Trainham and Stewart Proffitt; grandson, Josh Trainham; stepson, Dennis Proffitt; and her beloved pet, Barney. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Gerald Trainham (Linda) and Sue Echols (Ron) both of Midlothian, Va.; David Trainham (DeAnna) of Powhatan, Va.; stepdaughter, Sherran Andrews (Bob) of Chesterfield, Va.; grandchildren, Lori Fields (Doug) of Chesterfield, Va., Janet Hackler (Jason) of Powhatan, Va., Aaron Trainham (Cami) of Daphne, Ala.; eight great-grandchildren and two great-great grandsons.
A child of the depression, she was strong, independent and frugal, as well as a faithful wife, loving mother, grandmother and a devoted friend to many. She raised three children mostly on her own. Although a struggle at times, she always managed to provide. She began working at an early age in a variety of office management roles specializing in book-keeping which she did well beyond retirement age to stay busy. She loved the outdoors, her flowers, planting her vegetable garden and sharing the bounties with friends. She found joy with her family and her faith.
A service of remembrance will be held at Bon Air Christian Church, 2071 Buford Road, North Chesterfield, Va. on March 8 at 11 a.m., followed by repast. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Bon Air Christian Church or Richmond SPCA.
A private graveside service will be scheduled at a later date.
