Wanda Lou Beattie Robertson passed away on November 4th surrounded by loved ones at her daughter’s home in Carrollton, Tx. Wanda had been being cared for by her daughter, Lawanda, & son in law, Charlie since May of 2019. Wanda was born in 1931 in her family’s home in Whitesville, MO. As a youngster, Wanda was wild and tough. Her family and friends described her as ornery, a trait most would agree that she never outgrew. Wanda didn’t have a liking for school, and decided she had learned everything she needed to know by the eighth grade. While she didn’t care for reading, writing, and arithmetic, Wanda did enjoy working with her hands and hard work came naturally to her. On November 3, 1947, at the age of 16, she married the one love of her life, William (Bill) Robertson. The couple moved to Midland in 1954 so that Bill could take a job with F&F Well Service. The couple established themselves in Midland, buying their forever home on Raymond Drive, and having two children, Junior and Lawanda. F&F Well Service later became Crouch Well Service and eventually Machen Well Services and the couple made lifelong friends with the Crouch family who also employed Wanda as their office and house cleaner. Sadly, Bill was killed in an automobile accident in 1982. Wanda continued to work hard and supported herself as a widow. She kept herself busy with her family and friends. Some of her favorite hobbies were cooking, working on puzzles, watching dirt track and asphalt racing, bowling, and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. Wanda traveled across the states bowling with a competitive league for many years. As her family grew, she became known by her great grandkids as Great. There are many wonderful memories of Thanksgivings and Christmases at Great’s house. Wanda always greeted her loved ones bright eyed and smiling with a kiss on the lips. She loved to decorate and cook for the holidays. Wanda was a wonderful matriarch who loved unconditionally. She is survived by her sister, Wilda Jean Campbell, daughter, Lawanda Blocker (Charlie), daughter in law, Linda, grandchildren Derek Blocker, Jason Blocker, Toby Robertson (Lawren), Dustin Robertson (Stephanie), great grandchildren Levi Blocker (Iris), Kesmond Andrews, Kendall Blocker, Allison Blocker, Addisyn Robertson, Matalin Robertson, Kacey Robertson, great great granddaughter Jada Blocker, and nieces Sharon Austin (Wayne), and Marilyn Glidden (Roger). She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Robertson, son, Junior Robertson, and sister Judy Kay. The final lap for Wanda was slow and steady, but when she passed the finish line it didn’t matter what was behind her, only that her Heavenly Father and the ones who had passed her were waving her on with the checkered flag. Visitation will be at Ellis Funeral Home on November 10th form 5pm-9pm and services will follow on November 11th, Ellis Funeral Home, at 9 am with burial to follow. The family would like to thank her caregiver, Sedonia, for her kindness and help during the last few months of her life. Pallbearers for the service are Charlie Blocker, Rick Towery, Toby Robertson, Dustin Robertson, Wes Smith, & Kesmond Andrews. Honorary pallbearers are Zeke Baker, Derek Blocker, & Jason Blocker.
