He went to school at Carver High School in Midland where he received his high school diploma. Through school and even after, Rufus had found a love for aviation and helping people when he could. He worked as a Skycap for the Continental Airlines, while also working as a maintenance man for the city of Midland. He was widely appreciated amongst his peers for his dedication to work.
Rufus is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Lois Ann Sanders; his son, Eddie Sanders and his wife, Devah Sanders; grandson, Darayvon Sanders; and his brother Ed Sanders.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby Anderson and Alonzo Sanders; and his 2 brothers and 6 sisters.
Public viewing will be held Sunday, December 29, 2024 from 2:00-5:00 pm at Ellis Funeral Home. Graveside service will begin at 11:00 am on Monday, December 30, 2024 at Resthaven Memorial Park.
