Quentina was born on April 6, 1935 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She graduated from Catholic High, now Bishop McGuinness High School, in 1953. After high school she worked briefly for Mid Continent Life Insurance Company in Oklahoma City. Quentina married Joe Brininstool at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cathedral on August 28, 1954.
Joe and Quentina moved to Cisco, Texas in June, 1955. Joe joined the United States Air Force in September, 1955. He and Quentina lived in San Antonio; Houston; Sacramento, California; Roswell, New Mexico; and finally in Portsmouth, New Hampshire during his service. In November, 1959 they returned to Houston, Texas where Joe rejoined Humble Pipeline.
Joe and Quentina were founding members in 1962 of St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church in Houston, where Quentina served in the parish women’s organization for more than twenty years. Upon moving to Midland in 1983, Joe and Quentina were founding members of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, and in recent years, active members of St. Ann’s Catholic Church. Quentina was a member of the St. Ann’s Altar Society.
In addition to her career raising children, she made time for the occasional bridge game and was a member of many bridge clubs through the years. She enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels and found great satisfaction in serving as a volunteer for Home Hospice. Quentina found joy in gardening and taking care of a yard full of turtles. She rescued many and knew them all by name. Quentina shared her home with many special dogs in her lifetime; however, the most memorable would be her constant companion for the past few years, Bailey. Anyone who knew Quentina knew that sitting at a slot machine was her favorite place to be. She enjoyed many trips to Las Vegas, Laughlin, Wendover, and Hobbs with friends and family.
Quentina was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Elizabeth (Kolar) and Robert Steinke, her brother Robert Steinke, and her sisters Dolorosa (DeeDee) Spooner, and Carmelita (Cookie) Kitzelman; and husband of fifty eight years, Joe.
