Nancy grew up in Norman, Oklahoma and had a knack for music. She attended the University of Oklahoma where she played the bass in the OU Concert Band as well as piano. She met the love of her life there, James W. Sparks, and they were married on January 26th, 1951.
Jim and Nancy moved to Montana and New Mexico, finally settling in Midland in the late 1950’s. Nancy was the treasurer of the Midland Symphony Guild, a member of Geo Wives, and president of Green Tree Country Club Women’s Association. She was also a member of Memorial Christian Church. She taught piano lessons for many years, loved to travel, and loved spending time with her family.
Nancy is survived by her children, James M. Sparks and wife Judy Jordan; Glenda A. Sparks, and David A. Sparks and wife Carol Teague Sparks; three grandchildren, Ashley Sparks, Wesley B. Sparks, and Haley E. Sparks; and great grandchild Trinity K. Elliot.
A celebration of her life will be on Saturday, April 18th at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Christian Church at 1001 Andrews Hwy.
