Martha was born in Pampa, Texas on August 29, 1939 to Betty Buchanon and Walter Hulsey. She graduated from Odessa High School in 1958 and immediately joined the Army where she served in Military Intelligence.
She married Jerry Jones, Sr. in 1958 and, together, they had Debbie Jones Thurman, Jerry Jones, Jr. and Vicki Jones Collins. She later married Jim Watts and they had David Watts. In October of 1972, she married Wayne Harvey. They remained friends and companions until his death in 2000.
Martha worked for the Postal Service for thirty nine years beginning from loading mail trucks to managing the entire CFS Unit. While she took great pride in her achievements at work, her greatest desire was for others to know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. In her forty plus years of membership at Kelview Heights, she served faithfully teaching the three year olds, fifth and sixth grade classes, pre-school choir, AWANA club, sang in the choir, and served expecting nothing in return. Due to her love of music, she taught herself the accordion at the age of eleven and that love carried over to all of her children. Martha’s most enduring legacy and the thing that mattered most to her is the fact all four of her children are serving in their respective churches in one capacity or another.
Martha is preceded in death by her mother, father, and brother, Bobbie Hulsey.
She is survived by her four children and their spouses as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at Ellis Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 from 6-8 pm. A funeral service will be held at Kelview Heights Baptist Church on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at 11:30 am with Pastor Jeff Franklin officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
The family of Martha Harvey would like to thank friends and family members for their outpouring of love and support.
