Jerry Lynn Tarpley Jr. was born September 12, 1969 in Midland, Texas and passed away August 12, 2011 in his parent’s home. Jerry spent his life involved in music and the outdoors. Those were his greatest passions. He was a fantastic guitar player and loved all types of music. Jerry could spend all of his time alone with nature. If he could have lived in a cabin by the lake all by himself hunting and fishing, he would think that was Heaven on Earth. He also had a soft heart for the little creatures in the world – from saving baby squirrels, relocating the occasional rattlesnake, to feeding any stray dog or cat on his doorstep. Jerry is survived by his father, Jerry Tarpley Sr., his brother, Shannon Tarpley, as well as several cousins, aunts, and uncles. Rain is a symbol for forgiveness and renewal. Thursday night’s rain washed away Jerry’s pain and suffering, leaving only his soul in its purest form. Hand in hand, he and his mother, Cheryl, watched the sun rise in Heaven with God on Friday morning, August 12. Family will receive friends on Monday, August 15, 2011 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Ellis Funeral Home. A funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at 10:30 AM at the Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Bob Porterfield officiating. Interment to follow at Resthaven North. Pallbearers are: brother, Shannon Tarpley, and cousins, Casey Smith, Tanner Smith, Dan Edwards, James Bailey, and Larry Barr. Honorary pallbearers are: cousins, T.L. Horton, Matthew Horton, and Calvin Horton. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home of Midland, Texas. Condolences may be offered at www.ellisfunerals.com.
