James Ronnie Burgess

He graduated from Coahoma High School. Ronnie had met Marilyn “Mirt” Bedell in the 7th grade and the couple wed in Carlsbad, NM on July 31, 1965 and started their family. Ronnie worked for Bettle Womack Pipeline Construction for 45 years and was president of the company.

Ronnie was a member of Wilshire Baptist Church. He enjoyed playing poker and taking care of his yard. He was quite a storyteller. His Boxer, Cagney, held a special place in his heart but he especially loved playing with his great grandchildren.

Ronnie is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marilyn Burgess; son, Tommy Burgess (Meredith); daughters, Nancy Burgess (Vangie Buford) and LeAnn Pittenger (Robert); sister, Patsy Swaim; grandchildren, Dylan Bone, Tyler Burgess (Aimee), Faith Gonzalez (Alex) and Kaylee Baldwin (Collin); and great grandchildren, Jonas, Derek, Kinley, Elena, Rylee, Parker and Lonnie.

He is preceded in death by his father, Jim Burgess; mother, Mary Francis Burgess; brother, Gerald Burgess; and sisters, Fannie and Bessie Burgess.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, August 3, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Veal Creek Cemetery in Graham, TX. Tommy Burgess, Dylan Bone, Tyler Burgess, Alex Gonzalez, Collin Baldwin, Derek Gonzalez and Bill Ford will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial donation be made in Ronnie’s name to the Coahoma Athletic Booster Club.
