He graduated from Midland High and joined the Air Force. After an honorable discharge, Jack settled in Odessa where he went to work at the Texaco Gas Plant. He later went to work for El Paso Products which became Huntsman Corporation and he retired after 34 years.
As a Christian, church was very important to Jack. He served in several churches in many roles from bus driver, deacon, usher, and teacher. He loved greeting people and welcoming them to church.
Jack was also a well-rounded athlete. He played volleyball, racquetball, bowled in a league, fast pitch softball, slow pitch softball, co-ed softball and golf. He umpired many baseball and softball games. He hung up his glove and cleats at the age of 65. He loved watching his grandkids play their many sports.
On April 27, 1996, Jack married Helen Jean Cotten. They purchased an RV and traveled with Oil City Good Sam’s Club where he served as president and on the parking team.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Jerry and Frankie and stepson, Johnny Whitley.
He is survived by his wife Helen Morris, son Jimmy Morris and wife Marta, daughter Janette Midkiff and husband Jeff, grandchildren Bryan and Courtney Morris, Janelle and Andrew Bell, Emily and Cody Mulloy, Jerrika and Michael Swinney and 7 great grandchildren. Stepchildren Doug Whitley, Jimmy Whitley and wife Mim and Vicki Castillejos and Javier.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 20, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Ellis Funeral Home, 4616 N. Big Spring St. with Clark Racca officiating.
