Irene was born, August 16, 1910 in Peru, Kansas. She graduated from Peru, Kansas High School, May 16, 1928. After moving to Pampa, Texas she met and married Joseph Barnett McReynolds Jr. They were married by his father Rev. Joseph Barnett McReynolds Sr. on February 11, 1940. They spent their married life on a cotton farm in Martin Co, Texas north of Midland. Joe McReynolds passed away March 14, 1994 after 54 years of marriage. They had one son, Sam Russell McReynolds, the light if her life, who passed away December 20, 2007. Irene was a long time member of First United Methodist Church, and the Boone Bible Class. She and Joe loved to go camping and visited almost every state in their camper. They always visited family and friends along the way. She also enjoyed cooking and sharing her homemade chocolate chip cookies, angel food cakes and yeast dinner rolls.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Alanzo and Etta Veal, sisters Pearl Jones, Dorothy Walters, Hazel Snelling and her brother Russell Veal.
Irene is survived by her daughter-in-law, Suzanne McReynolds of Victoria, Texas, two grand-daughters, Shelly McReynolds Cline and husband Larry, of Austin, Texas, and Leanne McReynolds Hauck, and husband Jason of Houston, Texas. Two great-grand daughters, Lexie and Zoe Chakales of Austin, Texas, a niece Maxine McEnroe of Kansas City, Kansas, one great-niece, Gail McEnroe of Chicago, Illinois, and two great-nephews, Bruce McEnroe and Rev. Tom Walters.
Services have been scheduled for 1:00pm, Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at the Ellis Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Jan Reed officiating, with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. The family would like to give special thanks and deepest affection to Jimmy Stallings and Linda Webb. Our greatest admiration and appreciation to her primary health care staff, Dr. Robert Vogel, Rebecca Dinkins, Mary Brown, Martha Swindell and Bobbie Williams. They diligently, with loving kindness and grace, took care of her for 10 years.
