Charline was born in Mancos, Colorado on August 12, 1934 to John and Mabel (Dunning) Wagner. She spent her childhood years in the small mountain town of Mancos. Later in 1956, she married Larry Ives in Carlsbad, New Mexico. They spent the next 62 years devoted to each other. She was a loving mother to 3 children and 7 grandchildren.
Charline worked some years as an X-Ray technician in several hospitals, but spent most of her time taking care of her family in the home where she was an amazing mother and grandmother. She was a great cook and enjoyed fixing meals for her family. Charline was extremely proud of her grandchildren, always smiling and happy to see them. She will be dearly missed by all her children and grandchildren.
Charline lived many places throughout her life including Carlsbad, Lovington, Pecos, Kermit, Lamesa, and Big Spring, but would ultimately settle in Midland in 1996 after surviving a massive stroke. Despite this, she still lived a full life and enjoyed traveling the world, taking trips to China, Egypt and Ireland. She maintained her childhood love of the outdoors and spent many days fishing in Colorado, New Mexico, and Texas with her children and grandchildren. One of her favorite places to hang out and fish with her family was Lake Amistad in Del Rio, Texas. She especially took pride in the treks to a rustic family cabin in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado. Later in life, Charline still liked to get out and just go for a drive around town.
Charline is preceded in death by her parents, a sister, and a son, Donald Ray Ives.
Charline is survived by her husband, Larry; her daughter in law, Paula Ives and her children, Callie, John, and Sarah; daughter, Kim, her husband Scott Evans, along with their children, Kristen and Ben, Justin and Lori, Chad and Kacey, Jenna and Garrett, and Tyler Evans; and her son, Mike and his wife Cheryl, and their children, Hannah and Emery. She is also survived by one sister, Helen Small.
Private graveside services for the family will be held this Wednesday, May 9, at 11:00 am at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland.
