Betty remarried in 1985 to Charles Oxford of Midland, TX. Brandey fell in love with her new dad, Charlie, and he quickly became the cornerstone of her truly happy and amazing life. Brandey attended Midland High School where she graduated with honors and became a fiercely proud Aggie when she graduated from Texas A&M University Cum Laude in 2001 with a degree in Nutrition. She was an actice Aggie Lutheran, and during the summers while at Aggieland, she volunteered at Camp John-Marc where she helped with rehabilitation of children with special needs. Brandey obtained her license as a Registered Dietician and passionately cared for underserved children at WIC for 6 years.
In 2001, Brandey met the love of her life and married Chris Ackerman of Fort St. John, British Columbia. In support of her true dream, Chris encouraged Brandey to become a physician and she was accepted at Texas Tech School of Medicine in 2007. Continuing her true love of caring for children, Brandey completed her residency and became a Board-Certified Pediatrician in 2012. That same year, the Ackerman family relocated to Midland, TX to be close to Betty and Charlie.
Brandey has 3 beautiful children – Peyton (b. 2011), Hudson (b. 2013), and Ellison (b. 2016). Brandey quickly became known as “superwoman” when she excelled in providing care to sick and injured children while being a fiercely loyal and selfless mother to Peyton and Hudson through residency. The center of Brandey’s world was her 3 beautiful children. Brandey would come home from her practice and tirelessly play with Peyton, Hudson, and Ellison. She would spare no efforts to take her kids to the park, pool, jump with them on the trampoline, have water gun fights, or cuddle with them reading books. Brandey’s children wanted for nothing and the delight seen on both Brandey’s and her children's faces when she entered the room was unmistakable.
Once relocated to Midland, TX, Brandey joined the medical practice of Midland Pediatric Associates. She continued her quest to provide exceptional care to her patients and their families by becoming a Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). In her practice, Brandey quickly became known as a brilliant, hard-working, and personable doctor whose patients quickly came to love her as much as she loved them. Brandey was well-known as a Pediatrician who got up early, stayed late, made house calls, and was up all hours of the night working hard to be the best doctor to her patients and their families. She was truly a shining star…
Brandey is survived by her husband, Chris, and her 3 children Peyton, Hudson, and Ellison. Brandey is also survived by her mother and dad, Betty and Charles Oxford; her sister, Jamie Wayne Johnson and partner Bradley Dickinson and their sons, Braxten Johnson and Braden Dickinson; cousins, aunts and uncles; as well as countless loving family and friends.
