Anna Beth “Beffie” Bedford Farr, a pioneer Midlander, was born June 13, 1919 in Midland, Texas and passed away peacefully at home in Midland on October 11, 2016 . The early years of her life were spent on the family ranch in Andrews County, Texas. She always said that her best memories in life were horseback riding, camp fires, and chuck wagons that were all part of ranch family life. Her mother and father, Hilory Green and Juanita Bedford, were pioneer West Texans. She attended the public schools of Midland County and was a graduate of Midland High School. She then went on to attend The University of Texas, received a BA in Speech and earned a Lifetime Teaching Certificate. However, as her great nieces and nephews recall, she claims to have majored in boys.
She was married to Archie P. Farr for 20 years before his passing in 1985. She spent most of her middle age life caring for her mother who had Parkinson’s disease.
Anna Beth Farr was a devout Christian and was active in various Midland church congregations throughout her life. She was predeceased in death by her sister, Nell Ruth Eschberger, whose daughter and husband, Ann Ritchie (Bucky), had 3 children (Spencer, Abby & Bo) to whom Beffie lovingly became a surrogate grandmother. She traveled the world with these kids and poured her life and wisdom into them. She was very involved with the Texas Exes with whom she traveled often. She was an avid reader, a gourmet cook and an active member of the Junior League of Midland, John Birch Society, Chi Omega Alumni, Daughters of the American Revolution and various organizations. Due to her lovely, lively, hilarious, contagious personality, people young and old can recall countless stories of life with Beffie. She will be sorely missed.
She was predeceased by her father Hilory Green Bedford, her mother Juanita Hill Bedford, her sister Nell Ruth Eschberger, her brother Hilory George Bedford, her husband Archie P. Farr, and her nephews Mark Eschberger and Craig Eschberger.
She is survived by her nieces Ann Ritchie, Beverly Drummond, Lisa Sams and Nita Fradenburg, spouses and their children and grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at Resthaven Memorial Park on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 10:00 a.m.
The family was extremely blessed to have her extraordinary primary care providers Ossie Jones and Jonetta Frazier. The family also expresses heartfelt thanks to Narvie McDonald and Helen Glover, along with Hospice of Midland for their loving and dedicated care of Beffie.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to Hospice of Midland, 911 W. Texas, Midland, Texas 79701.
