William Gwynn Steele, loving husband of Mary Elisabeth (White) Steele, of Monroe, Ohio passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024. He was born May 6, 1932, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the son of William Joseph Steele and Myrtle Irene Gwynn Steele and was the brother of Joan Myrtle (Raymond) Birmingham.
William was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved his family and was a quiet leader and advisor to us all. He loved Jesus and accepted His gift of salvation found throughout Scripture. "For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His love for those who fear Him; As far as the East is from the West, so far has He removed our transgressions from us." Psalms 103:11-12.
William was a member of Berean Baptist Church, Monroe, Ohio. While in Pennsylvania, he actively ministered with Spruce Street Baptist Church in Newtown Square, PA and Bible Covenant Baptist Church in Media, PA.
He served in the Army stationed at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland where he met his wife who was from nearby Perryville, as she worked as a secretary there as a civilian. After discharge, he graduated from Drexel University with an MBA and worked for Philadelphia Electric Company as a Systems/Budget and Control analyst.
In addition to his parents, sister and brother-in-law, he is preceded in death by his dear wife, Mary (White) Steele in 2022.
William is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Thomas) Wiggershaus; grandchildren, Heidi (Anselmo) Rodriguez, Erich (Sydney) Wiggershaus; and great grandchildren, Emiliano Thomas Rodriguez, Isabella Rose Rodriguez and Adelaide Elisabeth Wiggershaus. We are sad that he is missing the arrival of Campbell Erich Wiggershaus who will bring much joy and comfort to us all in just a few weeks. He is also survived by many nephews and nieces whom he loved.
