My deepest sympathies to the Mihal family. I met Paul at the Indians. We were both BGSU and men's chorus alumni.   We remained friends over the years and he visited Creston on more than one occasion for our fall party, The Pumpkin Bowl.   I had been trying to reach Paul and unfortunately found his obit. Our dear Paul had the love of Christ in his heart as attested to by many witnesses.  When work brought me to Cleveland several times, Paul always made the time to meet me.   At our Jamestown home, he was a favourite dinner guest.  During the pandemic, when the churches would not let us in, he joined me for prayers in my makeshift temple.  We had both served as Chanters in the Byzantine tradition of the Albanian Orthodox churches.

I will not forget him or his mother and father, all people of great  faith.  I perjeteshim kujtimi i tij.

I searched my records of photos from my visits to the Cleveland area over the years and finally found one of Paul with some of our friends from the old neighborhood.  Right of Paul is Tom Emling, followed by Debbie Carlin, Hugh Carlin, and their daughter Caitlin.  We were, of course, having pizza together, which was something of a sacred Cleveland tradition.  This photo would have been taken no earlier than late 2010, possibly a year or two later.  Those days are sorely missed.

Paul lived his Ministry.  I remember a time when my Mother was recuperating from an injury in a long term care home in Westlake.  I was in town visiting her  and I always met with Paul when in the Cleveland area.  I mentioned I was going there and Paul came along to visit another person there, more about Paul's age than the mostly elderly population of the facility.  This is a woman Paul had never met before she was admitted.  He visited such places, befriended those who he saw in need, and did follow up visits to entertain them and lift their spirits.  A true Christian, which is the finest epithet I may give to anyone.

I live in British Columbia, Canada, and I had not seen Paul since my last visit to the Cleveland area in 2018, at which time we shared a pizza at Angelo's in Lakewood. We kept in touch, though and last spoke in January 2022. At that time I shared with Paul that I was dealing with a serious health issue and, typical of him, he said he would pray for me. On February 8, 2022 I sent Paul an email letting him know I was in hospital. Ironically, I found out two days later from a mutual friend that Paul had died February 2, 2022. I was discharged from the hospital last night and am at home now, beginning recovery. I am sure that I was in Paul's last prayers. A fine Christian man who put his Ministry first. Anyone who knew him well will miss him.

Paul,
Thank you for all of your service to St. Epremte. When a youngster as an altar boy, later on as a Cantor and past Chairman of the board of directors. 68 years of dedicated service to Christ and his Church of St. Epremte.  We will miss our discussions on Cleveland Sport teams and of course Ohio State and Notre Dame Football. 
May God bless you and may your memory be eternal, we will miss your chanting on each Sunday and especially at Easter Holy Week
