Born December 2, 1954 in Jacksonville, FL, David graduated Forrest High School in 1972 and was a member of Venetia Terrace Baptist Church. David began his career in the residential construction industry and owned his own masonry business for over 25 years. He was well known for his strong work ethic and masterful skill with block, brick, and stone. David’s most recent position was with SAIC at Naval Air Station Jacksonville.
David was a devoted father and cherished spending time with his sons and extended family. He enjoyed fishing, tinkering on his cars, and dancing. It was through dancing that he met the love of his life Karen. All who knew David were touched by his generosity and his ability to put others’ needs ahead of his own.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Donald and Elvie May Boykin Thomas. He is survived by his wife Karen, two sons Corey and Aric (Cassie), stepchildren Scott and Sara (Brook), grandchildren Eva and Tyler, brother Robert “Bobby” (Cheryle), sister Marilyn (Dwane), as well as nieces and nephews.
A private family ceremony will be held Wednesday at Hardage-Giddens Holly Hill in Middleburg. A celebration of life will be held at a later date once we are able to gather together safely.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to cover David’s final expenses at https://gofund.me/a23c3d53.
