Alvin Walter Moore, 80, of Middleburg, Florida passed away Tuesday, November 9, 2021. Memorial services will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, November 15th at Advent Lutheran Church in Orange Park, Florida and 2:00pm on Saturday, November 20th at The Message Community Church in Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends and visitors following each of the memorial services.
Alvin Walter Moore was born on May 10, 1941 in Kannapolis, North Carolina. He was the son of the late Conley Williams Moore and the late Helen Walter Moore. He graduated from A.L. Brown High School in Kannapolis, NC. He was a supervisor in the steel industry with careers at Florida Steel in Charlotte, NC, Georgetown Steel in Georgetown, SC, and Gerdau AmeriSteel in Baldwin, Florida. He was a member of Advent Lutheran Church in Orange Park, Florida and the Clay County Beekeepers Association.
Alvin enjoyed spending time with his family and was very proud of each of his children and their spouses and grandchildren.
Alvin was a passionate beekeeper, known locally as “The Honey Man,” lovingly caring for his honey bees and sharing his honey with others. He was also known as “The Flag Man” in his neighborhood, proudly erecting flag poles to display American flags for the community in his neighborhood. Alvin enjoyed fishing, hunting, and woodworking, and was a friend to all!
Survivors include his wife of 59 and a half years, Cecilia Funderburke Moore of Middleburg, FL; daughter Michaela Moore Berley (Phil) of Aiken, SC; sons Lennie Moore (Libbie) of Chatham, VA and Andy Moore (Kris) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; sister Carolyn Moore Reynolds (Robbie) of West Jefferson, NC; brother Norman Moore (Linda) of China Grove, NC; grandchildren Zachary Moore, Rachel Moore, Mallory Berley, Hunter Berley, Chase Berley, and Oksana Moore. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded by his parents and his brother, Michael Moore.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Advent Lutheran Church or the Clay County Beekeeper Association for Education and Training.
