CHANDLER, Janet L (Walters), age 79, Centerville resident, passed away Monday, May 1st, 2023 at Hospice of Dayton after battling MDS. She was born June 1st, 1943 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Albert “Bucky” and Bernice (Rogers) Walters.
She is survived by her daughters, Denise (Michael) Varner, Deana (Ray) Doherty and Jen Shapiro; grandchildren, Ashley (Heath) Larson, Brock (Becca) Doherty, Keagan and Brady Shapiro, Jaden and Caleb Varner; great grandchildren, Ainsley and Kace Larson; brothers, Dan (Phyllis) and Dale (Connie) Walters as well as several beloved nieces, nephews and their children.
Janet graduated from the class of 1961 at West Carrollton High School (where she was A.K.A. “Danny Walters’ little sister”). After raising her three daughters while diligently working in customer service at Monarch Marking, Janet bravely switched careers in her early 50’s to become a successful licensed nail technician and business owner (Natural Nails).
She dearly loved her family and wonderful friends, and is remembered by them as a caring, generous and fun-loving person who relished in the saying “I’m not bossy, I’m just helpful”. While she delighted in finding a good bargain, she especially enjoyed reading, gardening, laughing and playing games with loved ones- especially through the battle of her disease, many cherished family and friend gatherings centered around playing her favorite games.
Abiding by her wishes, there will not be a funeral service… Janet’s family is grateful that her faith has taken her to a better place, where she is no longer suffering and can rejoice in God’s grace. We will privately celebrate with her favorites, sharing loving, laugh-worthy memories.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
