Rhoda Bernstein

Rhoda Bernstein was born May 5, 1930, to Elias and Esther (nee Feingold) Wissak in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, New York. Rhoda graduated from Lafayette High School in 1947. On November 20, 1949 Rhoda married Marvin Bernstein in Brooklyn, New York. To this union, three children were born: Wendy, Sherri, and Jay.

Rhoda thoroughly enjoyed shopping and her family members were frequent recipients of her shopping sprees. She also enjoyed the theatre, playing cards, writing poetry, and was an avid reader. Rhoda will always be remembered for donating generously to numerous charities, giving from her generous heart. But above all, she loved spending time with her family.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Wendy Bernstein, Sherri (Nicholas) Grecco, and Jay Bernstein; grandchildren Jordan Rothberg and Lindsey Rothberg, Sasha (Josh) Friedman, Cooper Grecco (Casey Neville), Nicholas (Jessica) Grecco, and Skylar Antizzo. Left to carry on Rhoda’s legacy are her greatgrandchildren Laine and Matthew Friedman, Samantha Rothberg, and Dylan Neville. Rhoda is also survived by her loving sister Andrea Gurfein Kuras and nephews Austin and Brett Kuras. Rhoda was predeceased by her husband, Marvin and her parents, Elias and Esther.

Services will be held Tuesday, December 13, 10:00 am at the Aventura Turnberry Jewish Center, 20400 NE 30th Avenue in Aventura, FL. Burial will follow, 12:30 pm, at Mt. Nebo Kendall Memorial Gardens, 5900 SW 77th Avenue in Miami, FL. Following the committal service a Celebration of Rhoda’s life will be held at 2:30 pm, at Porta Vita Villa Grande Club, 20105 NE 38th Court, Aventura, FL. There will be a sitting shiva on Wednesday, December 14 and Thursday, December 15, 4:00-8:00 pm, at 19925 NE 39th Place, Apt. #504, Aventura, FL.
