Ramon Ramirez

On October 27, 2019, Ramon "Ray" Ramirez lost his battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Celia, their four children, Desiree, Veronica, Valerie, and David, along with his sister, Silvia Fernandez, and other loved ones.

A long time resident of South Florida, Ray had a successful career with the City of Miami Police Department. After the academy, Ray started in patrol and went on to work his way in various positions within the department. He retired in 2008 from the Police Department, however kept very close ties with the friends turned family within the Police Department.

Ray went onto a new career at the University of Miami. There, he used his talents in law enforcement and information technology in various capacities at "The U." He established a new family at the University and was proud to call himself a 'Cane.

When Ray was not working, Ray was either thinking, shopping, or doing something that was fishing related. He enjoyed the open waters of the Atlantic and understood the importance of conserving this valuable resource.

Ray touched the lives of many people and will be missed dearly by those who have had the pleasure of knowing him. His friendship, words of wisdom, and good heart left an indelible mark on so many as evidenced by the outpouring of support throughout his battle with cancer.

A public viewing celebrating his life will take place at Caballero Rivero Little Havana this Friday, November 1, 2019, at 5:00 pm until midnight. The address is: 3344 SW 8th St, Miami, FL 33135. Per his wishes, a private cremation ceremony will be scheduled at a later date.
