Marilyn Kantor Solomon, 97, passed away peacefully, February 27, 2022. She was born June 29, 1924, in Jacksonville, Florida to Abraham and Paulyne Kantor z”l. They moved to Miami Beach when she was three months old, along with her sister Harriet z”l. Marilyn married the love of her life, Joseph Michael Solomon z”l, on November 6, 1949. They had a long, beautiful and well traveled life together.
Marilyn was an artist. As a professional enamelist, her artwork has been displayed at many distinguished galleries. A piece of her outstanding work was even commissioned as a gift for Elie Wiesel.
Marilyn and Joe were founding members of Temple Beth Am, which she adoringly called Solomon’s Temple, an ode to her husband who was the original builder of the synagogue. She proudly became a Bnai Mitzvah there at the age of 62.
Marilyn‘s philanthropy was extensive. She was a founding member of the US Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington DC, President and Woman of the Year at the Miami Jewish Home and Hospital for the Aged, a Lion of Judah of the Miami Jewish Federation, a docent at Vizcaya, among countless other organizations.
Above all, Marilyn‘s greatest joy was her family. Her four children: Paula Solomon, Gary Solomon z”l, Karol Solomon Brigham, Lori (Arthur) Greenfeder, her nine grandchildren: Matthew (Jessica) Rieger, Gina Rieger, Meredith (Michael) Branciforte, Alison (Aaron) Weiss, Spencer (Jessica) Greenfeder, Jason Brigham, Lindsey Solomon, Nicole Solomon, David Solomon and her five great-grand children: Jordana and Max Branciforte, Hudson and Tucker Rieger, Jonah Weiss, all brought her immense pride and endless hours of entertainment!
Marilyn will remain forever in our hearts as we will often speak her name with so much love and affection.
