Arrangements under the dirJorge F. Peña’s courageous three year battle with cancer ended on Wednesday October 7th at home with his loving family at his side. His incredible upbeat personality and determination to live life to fullest was an inspiration to all that knew him. Jorge was born in Cuba on September 4th, 1954 and came to Miami with his parents and older siblings in 1961. He was a graduate of Coral Park High and Miami Dade College. Jorge began his career in the printing industry with The Miami Herald. He went on to become the general manager of Classic Printing in Coconut Grove. It was during this period that he became involved with the Coconut Grove Chamber of Commerce. In 1993, Jorge changed careers and became an insurance agent working first for Equitable and then opened his own agency The JFP Insurance Group, specializing in group health plans and worker supplemental benefits for AFLAC.
In 2005, Jorge was one of the original founders and Chairman of the Board of The West Kendall Business Association. His goals were to raise the bar for the members with their business opportunities, services, and benefits. His motto was “The WKBA is The Friendliest Place to do Business.” This was his dream and they will continue his legacy. The Miami Dade County Office of the Mayor and Board of County Commissioners proclaimed November 15, 2012 “Jorge Peña Day.”
Jorge’s greatest accomplishment was his family; he leaves behind his beloved wife Dinah, son Michael and stepson Carlos Manuel along with sisters Alina, Vivian, her husband Raul Rodriguez, and brother Armando, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Jorge was always the life of the party so Heaven just got a little more fun. Cheers to a life well lived.
