Hope Blonsky, aged 91, passed away on May 8, 2024, in Miami, FL. She was born on January 20, 1933, in New York, NY, to Nathan and Hannah Abrams. Hope was a cherished daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend, and teacher.
After meeting her beloved husband, Joe Blonsky, at Alfred University, Hope transferred to SUNY New Paltz and married Joe in 1954. She dedicated her life to teaching, earning a Masters in Education from Adelphi University with a focus on special education for reading disabilities. Hope taught at McGlannan School and Kendale Lakes Elementary in Miami, for over 30 years.
After 69 years of joyous marriage, Joe predeceased Hope in September 2023. She is survived by sons Adam (Lorena) and Daniel (Shona), grandchildren Heather, Michael (Kira), Aaron, Rex and Natana, great grandson Levi and brother Jay Abrams.
Hope's memorial service and burial will be held on Monday, May 13, at 11:30 AM at Mt Nebo Kendall, 5900 SW 77th Avenue, Miami. A Shiva Minyan will take place from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday, May 13, at the home of Daniel and Shona Blonsky.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Adler Jewish Community Center or the Parkinson's Foundation in memory of Hope Blonsky.
