Domenic Macrina III, age 82 of Miami, Florida, who suffered through the agonizing stages of Alzheimer’s disease, passed away peacefully, on January 29, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was a gentle, kind and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He truly adored his family.
Domenic, who was always called “Don” by all who knew him, was born in Philadelphia, PA on March 15, 1940, to Domenic and Joanne Macrina. His family moved to Miami where he attended Ada Merritt Junior High and graduated from Miami Senior High School in 1958. Don started his first job at WSAV, a television station in Savannah, Georgia. In January of 1963 he married his high school sweetheart, Angela Corino, and remained in Savannah for a few years. They moved back to Miami in 1965 and remained there. They were blessed with three wonderful children: Domenic, Lisa, and John.

After earning his master’s degree in business and finance from the University of Miami, he became a Certified Financial Planner for AXA /Equitable where he remained until his retirement in 2014. He did all the training for recertification of agents in the company. He loved the professional respect, comradery, and collegiality within the organization and built many close friendships there.
He was a man of great faith and always projected a positive attitude. He loved music, theater, and sports, especially the UF “Gators”. His home office was known as “The Swamp” and on the door he hung a gator. He was always thrilled to be with his children, grandchildren, great grand children and other family and friends.
